There She Is…Miss America!

In just four days we’ll have a new Miss America! woot woot. And just in case you did not know in pageant land Miss America is basically the equivalent of the Superbowl. So yes, this time of the year is a big deal! Out of 53 contestants one young lady will be crowned Miss America (affectionately known as Miss A) with the opportunity to travel the globe representing the World’s largest scholarship organization for women, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Artistry by Amway to name a few.

Like most young girls, I too dreamed of becoming Miss America! And thankfully I had a chance to compete for the title of Miss Georgia for not one, but three years! Although I did not win the title I learned more about myself than I could have ever imagined. Additionally my participation with the organization granted me some amazing life experiences that I would not change for anything in the World. One of those experiences included working with the Pageant Planet, an online resource for pageant girls (yes, this means you should check it out!). During my time with the Pageant Planet, I had the the pleasure of interviewing my favorite Miss America, Kirsten Haglund (now Smith). In celebration of Miss America Week I would like to share my interview with her! In our time together she shared some of her experiences as Miss America 2008, how she began the pageantry journey and words of advice to aspiring young ladies who have the same dream. Hope you enjoy!!
